All season long, we here at My Favorite Squadron will be tracking which Oliver Perez shows up on the mound that night.  The first time out we got the scary (not in a good way) version, which we shall refer to as Mr. Perez.  Last start he was lights out, embodying the meticulous Dr. Ollie persona.

So tonight, it looked like Dr. Ollie was once again on the mound, pitching 4 innings of shutout ball.  Then, somewhere in the 5th, the transformation began.  The pitches grew erratic; control was lost. By the time Jerry pulled him, the bases were loaded and the tying run was on third.  As Mr. Perez walked back to the dugout, the metamorphosis was complete.

Hopefully the boys can right the ship and pull this one out.

Hopefully Dr. Ollie returns next start.

Hopefully.

What the heck happened to Carrot Top?!

So the Mets’ recent struggles had me feeling down.

Until I came across this pic of Dmitri Young.

That hair is AWESOME!

I’m jealous.

Seriously.

I’m going to the game today (Maine v. Hudson), so I’m hoping the boys can put another one in the W column.  I’m been to two games so far.  They lost both.  Maybe I shouldn’t be getting my hopes up then.  We shall see.  Stay tuned….

Can we get Johan to pitch every night please?

Yeah monkey, I know exactly how you feel.

Fundamentals, fellas! C’mon now.

Red Sox, meet the White Stripes

So I’m digging the look Anthony Reyes is sporting with those knee-highs.  Glad to see some guys still sport that look, vs. the baggy look favored by guys like Manny Ramirez and Prince Fielder.

“S-U-C-C-E-S-S… that’s the way you spell success…”

Or you could spell it J-O-H-A-N.  Either way is sufficient.  Big win last night.  But that’s why he makes the big bucks.  And who knew that he was such an offensive force as well.  Two doubles?  Unreal.

And how about Pagan’s back-to-back steals?  He’s definitely making a case to stay in the line-up once Moises returns.  There were rumors the Mets could shift him to right, then move Church (who has impressed me immensely so far) to first to give Chuck D some time off to collect his thoughts.

“Not in the face! Not in the face!”

This pic makes me smile:

Righteous.

On the next episode of All My Yankees…

Is it me, or does anybody else think Hank and Cash need to get a hotel room and just release all that tension already?

I’m just saying.

Might help those guys relax just a bit.

On a side note, it’s good to hear Harlan Chamberlain is doing better.

RIP – John Marzano

I only started
listening to MLB radio within the past few months, but I was instantly
impressed with the insight Marz brought to each broadcast. You could
tell he had a love of the game that was a huge part of who he was. His
analysis and story-telling made each listen informative, and I tried to
tune in whenever possible.

I may be a Mets fan from Flushing, but I had a great deal of respect
for the Phillies fan from So. Philly. To quote the late Jackie
Robinson, “A life is not important, except in the impact it has on
others’ lives.” And for that, Marz was tremendously important, based on
the reaction from his friends, colleagues, and fans around the world.

Marz, you will be missed.
